Red 1946 Murty Brothers Truck
This is probably one of a kind. Built by the Murty Brothers of Portland, Oregon. Murty Brothers is a holder of many patents for truck design and is famous for building the narrow-cab single person trucks used for hauling steel. They also built prototype trucks for the large manufacturers of trucks. This truck is thought to be the very first Murty Brothers truck.
Cab-over style. The cab-over cab is of Chevy origin. The odometer shows 23,000 miles, and looking at the pedals, this could be the accurate original miles.
Reverse-mounted flat-head Ford V-8 with four speeds. A transfer case is mounted in the front of the truck and carries the power to the front axle.
The original engine is out and completely dis-assembled. The parts appear to be complete. Also included in sale is a second running engine.
Front-wheel drive only. The rear two axles are tandem drop axles, allowing a very low deck height, with 78 inches between the rear tires.

The deck is 15.5 feet long. Under the radiator is mounted a large PTO-driven winch for pulling things onto the deck.
The bottoms of the doors are rusted badly but could be fixed. The rest of the truck cab appears to have only surface rust. The floors are good. The stake pocket holes are rusty but look structurally good.
This truck appears to have stayed in Portland and was used for many years by a transfer and storage company. The logo is still on the doors.
